Thank you all for getting the word out to your state senators about the sewage notification bill (H.4921)! We heard from so many offices that they were getting a lot of calls from constituents – thank you for making that happen!
We wanted to share that despite our best efforts on Friday, unfortunately we could not get the sewage notification bill to the Senate floor that evening. We were working with a number of supportive state senators right up until the late evening hours, but we ultimately ran out of time.
The good news is that the legislature officially voted to extend the formal session so we now have more time to get the sewage notification bill across the finish line this year. Because the session has been extended without a deadline, the timing for our next plan of action with the Senate is still to be determined. Stay tuned for more on that!
In the meantime, we hope you will join us in sending an email or leaving a voicemail for your state representatives thanking them for getting this bill through the House!
You can find your state representative and their contact information by clicking here. It is really important to thank our legislators when they do something great like this because they are so rarely thanked (and then they remember us fondly the next time we need their support).
Below is a short script for your convenience: “Hello, my name is _______________________ and I live in ________________, Massachusetts. I am calling to thank Representative _______________ for voting in support of H.4921, An Act Promoting Awareness of Sewage Pollution in Public Waters. I appreciate that Representative __________________ recognized the importance of this issue for protecting public health and our waterways. Please extend my thanks and gratitude to the Rep.”
As always, feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want any additional information.
Thanks for your advocacy, we are so grateful for all of you!
